Create a new association with fear . . .
When fear comes up remind yourself: This feeling and moment will pass. Focus on the positive outcome of the situation rather than the scary in-between. What’s one thing you could choose to do differently this week?
Sometimes life gets set in a routine and sometimes this is great and other times it’s an opportunity to shake things up a bit. It doesn’t need to be huge, just something small and see what happens. Who knows, this could open a new path, reconnect more with the now or feel freer, to name a few. Shake up your routine a bit and see what it does in your life. Feeling free and having freedom adds joy in life.
Jot down some ways you feel freedom. When in need of some choose one and go do it. If you need to fit it in, put it on your calendar or schedule and just do it when it pops up. Freedom is a beautiful sensation to feel and it great way to add joy in life. This spring my husband and I have had fun going to a few different garden stores. It would feel good to find something to add some visual fun in our yard.
Having fun as adults can be gardening, crafting or other activities you enjoy or want to try. Find ways to have some fun and fill your fun bucket often! Sometimes life is so busy, fun and play get left in the dust.
Yes, adults can still play and have fun! One way is joining a game of tag or water balloon fun with kids in the family or other adults. Be open to opportunities, even if it’s a bit outside of your comfort zone. Have some fun and take time to play. When the mind is thinking of future stressful outcomes of some event that hasn’t happened, this stirs up agitated feelings.
If you notice the mind wondering to the future remember your future self will take care of what comes. Return to your day and if your mind continues to wonder try one or all of these or use something else that works; pay attention to the scent in the air, feel the fabric of a shirt or the beauty around you. And know, you got this! On my journey to more peace, I have noticed my mind wonders to past uneasy experiences.
It is good to notice it, spend a bit of time acknowledging the feeling and return to the present time. Being present is where peace, joy and well-being are. This year I am on a mission to have more peace.
One thing I did recently was to do some deep breathing while listening to relaxing ocean sounds. If you’re in need of some peace, choose something simple to bring more of it into your life. Recently the sun has been out more. It felt and sounded like spring outside with flowers starting to bloom and birds chirping.
Take a moment to notice and enjoy the beauty around you. Do you know the main reason why many people remain stuck in procrastination patterns? Fear. Yes, I said fear!
Have you ever noticed after doing something you had put off, when completed it was much easier to do then ever thought of. Plus it was such a relief to have it done. When fear isn’t faced it becomes controlling but when fear is faced the procrastination dials down and confidence powers up. Want a better life? If yes, consider some simple actions to take towards this, even if they’re tiny.
Some suggestions. Reflect on what would improve your life. With this information, what small action can you take this week towards it. Just thinking about actions gets the mind thinking. Changing the past isn't possible but learning from it is.
If a past event comes to mind that you’d wished gone differently. Ask yourself: What could I have done differently. Possibly spoke with a softer voice. Taken a few deep breaths before responding. And if it isn’t a good time say something like hey, we’re here to have some fun, lets table this for now and talk about it at another time. We can’t go back and change things but we can learn from it and handle it differently. It’s easy to see your own faults and feel bad about it but taking time to focus on strengths feels better.
This diminishes the negative effects of things you aren’t as proficient in yet. Utilize your strengths and enjoy the feeling of satisfaction. Stress busting Tip 3 – find a quiet place to spend time in. It can be a comfy couch enjoying a relaxing cup of tea, take a walk to a special place and enjoy some beauty and quiet in nature.
Spending some time in a quiet place is a great way to reduce stress. Stress Busting Tip 2 – Let yesterday go and focus on today.
At times this feels difficult to do. Here are some ways to address this. Acknowledge the feelings and concerns from the past. Recognize them for what they are. This lets the focus come back to the current day. When in the present time, stress is lower. It's great to have a special place to go to in your mind during times of stress.
When needing a stress break, focus on this special relaxing place. It can be real or made up. Take some deep belly breaths in and out and take in the serenity of this place. Visit this relaxing place and feel the peace within anytime you need to. Have you ever noticed a situation when you left feeling unfulfilled or demotivated. These are times when some of your values aren’t being acknowledged or honored and this doesn’t fit who you truly are.
Getting to know your values and living your values, leads to aligning with who you are and living as your true self in the real world. |
