Putting Off Asking A Hard Question

Today I decided I needed to ask a hard question that I'd been putting off asking about a project I'm involved in. It was funny, I asked in an upbeat way and received great news back. Even though it felt hard to ask, and I put it off, it was so worth hearing the answer.

Have you put off asking a difficult question before? 

Putting off asking a difficult question can make it feel harder to do the longer it takes. If there's a question to ask, just ask it and find out the answer. Then you can move forward from there.

Even though I know exciting life events can still be stressful, it still surprises me at times when stress shows up around it. Have you noticed this and what do you do to handle the stress?

  • Tapping
  • Deep breathing
  • Talking with someone I feel comfortable with

  • Hold space for them

If you're catching yourself fascinated by something that moves your focus away from the 
next important step towards a goal to thrive in your life (a new job or promotion, school, planning your next adventure) these can be distractions that are getting in the way of where you want to go.

  1. Pick two things each day to focus on
  2. When you notice your focus has gone some place else
  3. Refocus on your two things

When focusing on the next few steps towards the thriving life you want, it keeps the momentum going towards where you want to go.

Have you ever noticed others filters are different than your own?  
 
If someone says something that is uncomfortable, take a few moments while taking some deep breaths. Think about what to ask or say next and go from there. This can clarify what they said and what the meaning was for them and this gives an opportunity for a more informed response.
 
Reducing some of those rubs with the people we love and care about adds more peace and joy to life.

Tapping Script: Reduce Negative Messages That Stop You In Your tracks

Here's a simple rated tapping script to reduce negative messages that get in the way of moving forward. 

​Rate your feeling between 0 and 10 on "this negative thought"
​
Tap gently on the karate chop point (side of hand) and say statement out loud 3 times:
 
"Even though I feel stopped in my tracks by this old thought, I love and accept myself as I am."
 
Gently tap 3-5 times on these spots while saying out loud: "This old thought "

Top of head        "This old thought "
collar bone          "This old thought "
thumb                  "This old thought "
index finger        "This old thought "
middle finger     "This old thought "
pinkie                   "This old thought "

Take 2 deep breaths and check your number (rate it) on "This old thought " that was stopping you in your tracks. Repeat until your number is a 2 or less

Stress & Tension Flowing Out

The other day I was dealing with many things around a project in progress. And I was shallow breathing. When I took a few deep breaths and started to tap and the stress flowed out of me.

When you feel the stress or tension in the body rising take a few deep breaths and release it

Add more calming by tapping gently on the karate chop point

There are times we don’t realize how wound up we’ve become, when you notice it do something simple to reduce and release it.
