This morning I started reading from One Small Step Can Change Your Life by Robert Maurer. I was amazed at how many ideas remind me of Joyful Life Living.
One of those is see what we are grateful for. I’ve struggled with grey days on and off in my life and when I recognize what I’m grateful for in the moment or day it helps me see more colors and there more vibrant. Here is a quote from the book “WE have to learn to live happily in the present moment, to touch the peace and joy that are available now.” by Thich Nhat Hanh Let’s notice some color in our day, today and every day. In the coming year I want to learn more about abundant mindset. For me, this is appreciating what I have and focusing on joys. When I focus on positives I’ll be a magnet to them.
Some areas of focus for me are ~
2017 is around the corner what do you want to learn more about in the coming year? It feels good to work on a project and get it done. I’ve been working on a weight loss course and I just finished a big part of it. It’s important to acknowledge our own achievements.
Let’s remember to pat ourselves on the back when we accomplish something we feel good/great/amazing about! It’s a part of being our own BFF and joyful life living. Way to go on our achievements! When I look at some of my experiences and others, I notice that we sometimes impatiently want the current time or events to pass so another time or event in our life will happen. I understand why we look forward to a time and events in the future plus I don’t want to miss the amazing events in the now.
Let’s give some time to breathe in and see the present remarkable moments in our lives and look forward to others in the future. When I’m dwelling on negative thoughts it can bring me down. I’ve struggled with this but I found by checking in with my inner voice to see if it is staying in the positive more brings more joy. This doesn’t mean I don’t have sad, mad or other thoughts; I just want to live with more positives than negatives because I feel happier.
Let’s find some positives and bring more joy in our lives because we are worth it! Today is a gift I choose to enjoy.
Each and every day is a gift so let’s choose to see the delight and enchantment of those moments that pass by so quickly and add so much happiness to our lives. Today I spent the day with my Honey and we had an enjoyable Christmas time together. There was us time and visiting other family members too. I’m grateful to have him in my life and my other people too.
Building a tribe of people (my people that really get me) are like minded, supportive and we cheer each other on as we pursue our dreams and goals sounds marvelous to me and I hope I continue to do this. Small, medium or large think about what you’d like in a tribe and be open to the possibilities of growing it. Unexpectedly, I got a text from a family member asking if I dropped a wreath off on their porch.
I hadn’t done this but it got me thinking…”Wow, what a kind & thoughtful gift.” To me this is the season to give and do thoughtful acts of kindness and it’s also a time to accept gifts too. Let’s be open to giving gifts of a bit of time, a card or an item and enjoy receiving these special gifts too. Today I saw something about meditation come up more than once. I know it’s good for me but I have resistance to doing it.
Earlier this year I learned I can do it although I do it rarely. Seeing it come up today made me think about how I could add in something in that direction. Adding a short breathing exercise daily would be good for me and I just found some video meditations I’m going to watch. I have some options and it feels great! Adding one simple thing in our lives can improve it and be good for us. It can feel empowering and inspiring. Let's add something positive to our lives; it can even be something very small. The sky was so beautiful this morning...it called to me so I took a walk and a few pics today.
Here are a few ideas to add some beauty in your day:
These moments are often once in a life time so I want to enjoy them. Take a few moments to take-in some beauty today and add some joy to your life. This morning I noticed I was feeling thirsty and it felt great to have some water. Some signs it’s time to drink water are when:
I use to give my power away often but I’m learning to stand in it. This doesn’t mean I have to be a tyrant it’s about knowing the three W's of me:
Let’s check in with ourselves and make sure we are honoring our self and standing in our power. Part 1 It's snowy and people are getting around. I even had breakfast out.
Often in Portland, OR area when we get snow we have ice too so it's nice to have just snow this time. I went out on a short walk and took some pictures. The snow makes me feel younger and playful. Let's find some time to play today! Over the years I learned I can’t give to others when my bucket is rusty, full of holes and empty.
Part of this is:
I’m still a work in progress on this but I continue to improve. Taking good care of myself lets me be my better self because my bucket isn’t empty. Let’s remember to fill ourselves up…it can make us feel better and be better parents, partners and friends More snow and ice are in the forecast in the Portland area.
I’m keen on dialing down the caged tiger feeling by getting out into the community a bit more today. I hope it will offset the closed in feeling and let me see more of the beauty of the falling snow and nature in ice from my living room window. Let’s remember to… embrace the adventures and appreciate the peaceful times The other day I got my first order of my paperback book Joyful Life Living Weight Loss. It was exciting and rewarding to see it in print.
I decided to keep a copy on my desk on a little easel. It has given me inspiration and reminds me to continue to be open to unexpected avenues along my life journey. Let’s be open to possibilities and inspiration. These can bring happiness into our lives which contributes to our own joyful life living. Have you ever felt like a caged tiger in to small of a cage, I have?
It’s been very cold where I live with freezing rain and a silver thaw. It’s beautiful to look at although I feel cooped up. Normally in the winter I love when the sun comes out and there is a break from the rain but today hopefully soon the ice and cooped up feeling will be gone and I’m glad it’s above freezing. Let's think about somethings we are glad about today. One of the things I’ve found during this year was mindfully choosing maintainable lifestyle choices that work for me and my body.
Finding sustainable life style choices can lead to feeling better, happier and more fulfilled. The past can’t be changed, the future is unknown and the present is a loving gift so let’s honor, respect and accept ourselves as we are in this moment.
Have you ever struggled with balancing sleep and life? I’ve noticed for a while that I’m staying up later and sleeping in more and I don’t feel as productive.
Sleep is very important and I know I do better in winter months when I’m on a schedule of in bed close to 10 p.m. and up around 7 a.m. I’m slowly moving my bedtime closer to 10 p.m. and I’m getting up closer to 7 a.m. It feels good to be working towards my winter bedtime and I look forward to more productivity the closer I get. I’ve been enjoying having more time in the morning to get some more stretching, yoga and extra business time in. Let’s be more mindful about getting to bed at a time that works best for our bodies because we’re worth it! |
