Reducing Fear With 3 Simple Steps

When there are changes you’re wanting to make, possibly a promotion or opening a business or doing something else out of your comfort zone, fear can come up. It’s helpful to have courage to take the next step towards change. One way to do this is:
 
  1. Choose a first step
  2. Rate the resistance you have to do it between 0 and 10, zero is yes, I can do this and 10 is no way
  3. If it’s above a 2 what’s a smaller step you can take that’s a 2 or below
 
This is your next step towards the change you’re wanting. Find steps that are a 2 or lower because they’re no brainer, just do it steps. Having easy doable steps helps to produce and grow courage to take the next steps needed for change.

Tapping Script For Self-kindness

Follow the easy steps for self-kindness tapping
 
​Rate your low self-kindness feeling between 0 - 10, 10 being the lowest self-kindness you've had and 0 being the most self-kindness you've had.

Tap gently on the karate chop point and say out loud 3 times:
 
Even though I feel low self-kindness I love and accept myself as I am
 
Tap gently on each round and other points and say out loud on each point:

I want to nurture my self-kindness
 
Take 3 deep breaths in and out and check your rating number, repeat until 2 or lower

Holiday Self-Kindness Refocus

At times the Holidays are a tuff time for low self-kindness. There are more demands on our time and being hard on ourselves can come up (the house isn't clean enough, wanting to do more . . .).

This Holiday season when you catch your inner voice going down "the Holiday not enough" verbal path, refocus on all you're doing and say something kind about amazing you.

The Overflowing Basket Of Overwhelm

​One day life was going great and I couldn’t figure out why I was feeling overwhelmed. On my drive home I realized there was an overflowing basket of feelings that needed to be untangled. It felt good to release it and understand why I felt overwhelmed.

Here's the simple process:

  • Separate feelings out of the basket
  • Check in to see if there are any actions needed for each 
  • Acknowledge each feeling

This helps to release overwhelm. 

Having less overwhelm leads to more peaceful, joyful days.

Fear Of Moving Forward

In life fear comes up when change is wanted and there’s a choice to be made. You can stay where you are or you can find ways to move around or past it.
 
The best way I’ve found to move around or past fear is to take one small doable step at a time. Here are three questions to get you started toward change:
 
  1. What is the first step towards the change you want?
  2. What’s the number between 0 and 10 of resistance for doing this first step (zero no resistance and 10 the most you’ve ever felt)?
  3. If your number is higher than a 2, what is an even smaller step you can take?
 
When your number is a 0 to 2 take action! Move past fear and take action one small doable step at a time.

Planning Ahead Makes A Difference

Recently I wanted to do something and I had apprehensions about it. With some thought I created a plan to reduce it. Here’s the simple three-step plan:
 
  1. Figure out what the apprehensions are
  2. Ask yourself; what can I do to reduce these
  3. Implement them the best I can
 
Planning ahead is a great way to address apprehensions and do the things you want to do in your life.

Choices

There are often many choices in life. The choice of a direction in life you want to go for and what to focus on while doing it.

​When a day trip was coming, I had some concerns about the timing and such. In the end I chose to embrace the fun of a road trip and I was glad I did.
 
When choosing something embrace the joy, adventure and fun of it.
