Lower Fear with a Change in Our Vocabulary

We can lower our fear by changing our vocabulary.
 
“It’s a problem” to “It’s an Opportunity”
“What will I do” to “I know I can handle it”
 
This caught my eye from the book Feel the fear and do it anyway by Susan Jeffers on page 31.




Fears

​When facing fears remember to set yourself up for awesome success and be proud of what you do no matter how big or small it is. If you:
​
  • Show up and watch, way to go! 
  • Did part of it, fantastic! 
  • Shed some tears and do it all, awesome!

It’s a unique journey worth taking.

When facing my fear and going for it,
I learned: 
​
  1. I would have missed out on great adventures
  2. Finding the right fit for it is very important
  3. Having the right person(s) along for the adventure is a big help
 
We can create great adventures while facing our fears.

Tapping on fear

Check in on number between 0-10 on fear

Tap on karate chop point and say out loud - Even though I feel this fear I love and accept my self as I am

Say this 2 times: Even though I feel this fear I choose to dial it down

Tap on other points and alternate between these reminder phrases:
  • This fear
  • Choosing to let it go
Take 3 deep breathes in and out, check in on your number if greater than 2 do another round

Way to go on tapping!

Confrontation

Even though speaking my truth during the confrontation still feels like a success. I felt a bit unsettled about it later.

​I tapped and talked about it. I was pleased I had improved on speaking my truth and I realized there was room for growth. At times I could say less.   
 
Let’s remember to keep it simple when needed while speaking our truth gently.

​Killer Nerves

Have you ever had killer nerves? I was going in for day surgery and I was concerned about going under. It took a long time for me to wake up before. I was seeing a hypnotherapist at the time and he plugged in a phrase for others to say to me for calming. My Mom friend used it before and after surgery. I went under and woke up easier and I felt calmer. I was glad to have someone there open to doing this for me. Years later, I still have the phrase up for me to see. When I feel nervous, I can tap, say the phrase out loud or in my head and it still feels calming. When experinancing killer nerves: 
  • Think outside the box, hypnosis or other resource or option
  • Ask for assistance when needed
  • Support others when we can
 Let’s be open to new experiences and supportive of others when we can. 

Tapping Gary Craig Style

Tapping on unsettled feelings (you can plug in a different feeling or event). We haven’t tapped Gary Craig style in a while so here we go!
 
Check in on your # between 0-10 

​Tap on karate chop point and say 3 x’s - Even though I have this unsettled feeling I love and accept myself as I am
 ​

 
Tap on top of head and say
 
These unsettled feeling at a __3__ (put your number in)
 
Tap Inner eyebrow point and say –
 
I want to release it
 
Alternate the reminder phrases through all points
 
Breathe deeply 2 times and check your number if a 2 or more tap all points starting at top of head, say – this remaining __(fill in your number) until it’s dialed down to 2 or less

Confrontation

Recently someone confronted me about something they thought I was doing and they misunderstood. A few years ago, I would have frozen, felt mad and bad. This time I spoke my truth kindly and the person understood.

During the Holidays we need to speak up at times in a kind way. When we do this it can bring understanding, possibly diffuse a situation and there can be more peace at this time with family and friends.

Fear Holding Us Back

Has fear held you back, at times, from doing something you really want to do? You aren’t alone. Ways I have worked on this are:  
​
  • Tapping to dial it down and release it
  • Facing fear and going for it

These were amazing learning experiences for me and it felt great to dial down the fear and go for it! That's me in a helicopter at the Oregon Coast. What a breathtaking ride!

During a big change I had supportive friends that would gently remind me of my tools. I shared them with them and they could remind me. They even came in handy for them at times.

When we are open with others it can help them and yourself in times of need.
