It’s great to celebrate moving forward towards dreams & goals.
Today I am celebrating completing half of my level one EFT certification. I am on my way to becoming a practitioner. I feel overjoyed with my progress and excited about my path. This is my reminder to celebrate small, medium and large steps towards dreams & goals. Have you celebrated a step toward a dream or goal lately and if so what? A while ago I went to a class about the inner critic by Sarah Lambert. She had an interesting way to handle it.
At other times it’s smart to listen to my inner critic. There was a pamphlet about dune buggy rides and I thought it would be a fun adventure to do with my Honey. My inner critic was chiming in…”hello you have some of the health conditions listed on the do not ride list" (on their website). I was torn between having an adventure with my guy and being mindful of my health. I spoke to him about it and we came up with some other fun options. Taking the time to check in with my inner critic can be helpful in different ways. It can quiet the name calling inner critic, acknowledge some fears or give some important advice. Have you acknowledged your inner critic lately and if so how did it go? Part 2 Self Talk Some years back I received an email response from a friend and she wrote “Hey don’t talk to my friend like that!” She was talking about my self-talk.
I have improved since then and still could do better. At times, I am reminded of this when I read something from a friend and they are being hard on themselves. I would respond something like “be kind to my friend.” I was glad my friend let me know about it the way she did. I wouldn’t like it if I walked up and someone was saying something unkind to one of my people. It is a great check for me to ask myself this question to let me know how I am doing with my self-talk. Would I want a friend or family member have another person say some of my self-talk messages to them? If my answer is “no” then maybe it’s time to improve my self-talk. There are many ways to change this and I will write about some in future blogs. How would you answer the question above and what would you suggest to others to improve it? Part 1 Self-talk Categories have been on my mind for a while for my blog.
I started searching for information on how to do it and had someone else take a look too. Even after we found where to put categories in they still weren't working. At one point I could see them but my readers couldn't. I even emailed the experts. While I was waiting for a response I thought maybe I need to remove categories and reload them back on and like magic it was working with some determination and time. Categories are here and all my blog posts are categorized. It feels great to have this done! Have you completed something recently that makes you feel fantastic and if so what was it? I would enjoy hearing about it. I realized today that time had escaped me and my new journaling wasn’t getting done daily. I thought about it and tapped* on it.
I knew I needed to come up with a plan. I had tentatively put it on the evening to do list but that wasn’t working. My new plan is:
I am already getting benefit looking at my thoughts and feeling great about my new time. Have you had a beneficial journaling experience and if so what did you journal about (gratitude, success, life)? *Tapping/EFT - is a safe universal healing technique that can help release stuck emotions in the body. I just started a journal on a specific topic and it reminded me of a gratitude journal I did.
Journaling isn’t my thing but it was a very simple process of writing down three things I am grateful for a day. I could write a bit more when I wanted. It perked up my mood to see the gratitude I had in my life. I kept it up for around a year and at times I would return to it for a week or two. A short revisit was enough to remind me what I was grateful for in that moment. What are some of your grateful moments? I live in a place that is often gray and rainy and when I was getting ready to write my blog the sun started shining through my window. I thought I need to take a walk in the sun after I am done here.
Then I remembered it’s been rainy and I better look out and to see what the sky looked like. The sun was peeking through an opening in the dark gray clouds and I decided it was time for a walk now. It was great to be out greeting my neighbors and feeling the sun on my skin. Shortly after I got back the sun was behind clouds and the sky was mostly gray. I am glad I took the time and I realized I could have missed an enchanted opportunity if I didn’t act on it when I did. Have you ever felt the need to do something and did you act on it quickly? If you’re a parent I bet you can relate that each child is very different and it would have been great to have a specific “how to” book for each one.
I didn’t find one for mine but a while ago I created a flip book for myself. When I used a successful technique, gizmo or idea I would add it in. This came in handy when I was going through a stressful time. I could look through the book and pick one or two to use and often it helped me see what was going on and take care of it. My book sits out where I can see it to remind me to use my resources when I need them and I have the aspiration to let others know about them. Even if one thing helps one person it is a big win to me. What effective techniques have you used to help yourself and did you tell others about it and did it help them? Doing this certification reminds me of my college years. I need to tap into my scheduling I did back then.
I used to set aside time for my on line classes, homework and going to classes on campus. My body was so in tune I didn’t need to set an alarm for homework. I would wake up early enough to get it all done. I must admit my schedule is very different now and I don’t spring out of bed bright and early to start working on my lessons. I have other commitments to do. Fitting it all in is going to be interesting and worth it. It’s time to create a schedule. Mondays will be the busiest lesson day for me and I am setting aside a few hours in morning and afternoon. Tuesday through Friday will be two hours in morning and back up time in afternoon and an hour on weekends. At the moment I will do this and if I need to set specific times I will. The beauty of a schedule is it can always be tweaked to fit my life and dreams. What are some commitments you had in your life that you needed to set aside time for and how did you plan it? Today I am starting my EFT certification class. I am excited and nervous.
I don't know how much time I will have to blog. I hope to post blogs on Tuesday and Thursday's. When I have time I will post more and some quotes I I like too. It's time for me to get moving. Below is a quote I really liked. One day I was at a massage appointment and she mentioned using magnesium oil to spray on my tight neck. When I was working for a wellness office I learned about it and I had it in a spray bottle by my bed for leg cramps and tight muscles.
I knew I wasn’t supposed to spray it on my face because it will give me a headache and a friend can’t spray it on her neck either for the same reason. I heard it can make floors slippery too; luckily I have carpet where I spray it. I didn't get headaches spraying it on my neck and it helped the tightness too. Using it again reminded me this is fantastic for cramps, sore muscles and it is a great way for me to get more magnesium in my body without the side effects. Have you tried magnesium oil and if so what did it help with for you? I was feeling down about my food choices and slow weight loss lately. Then I received a note from one of my TOP's chapter people and my weight loss for March was mentioned. This reminded me it doesn't matter if it's an ounce or a pound just so it's going down. I was pleasantly surprised I had lost more than I thought last month. There is going to be times when I fluctuate a few pounds up and down or plateau. It's a process. I am glad I have my TOP's group to encourage me. I lost weight last month and this week too, yes! How have you struggled with food or weight and how did you handle it? Insights part 4
Since my EFT (tapping) session I have been moving through some hurdles. I still have some loose ends to finish. I realized I could sign up for my certification but I still wanted to put it off a while. It dawned on me…”Hello it is a goal” and it’s time to set it up like one:
By walking through this I realized my list was missing a time line. I set the date range for signing up for April 9 and no later than April 18 and it feels good to have a set date. Have you ever needed to set a specific date or time for a goal and how did that work for you? When I set up an appointment for EFT I didn’t realize the value it would have for both of us.
We bounced ideas off of each other. Gave feedback about our space and lighting and learned the importance of having a check list of essentials by the computer so we are ready for a session. Since my appointment I have gone live on my blog website and can be found on search engines, started a Facebook page and checked into the value of another important training that she recommended. Talking with a fellow future EFT practitioner was an amazing experience. What did you learn from an unexpected valuable experience? The EFT practice session went fantastic! It is great to see what I am going to be doing soon and another style of it.
Walking through a session gave me insights for my finances (and business). We worked on my resistance to spending money for the class and I am feeling better about it. I have a new EFT mantra to use and was reminded of another idea. Start small then tackle big ones down the road because it will be easier to do when the smaller items are cleared out. This was one time I really saw this in action. I helped out a future EFT practitioner by being a practice client and it gave me insights for myself (and my business which I plan to write about in Insights part 3). I was glad I did it and plan to do a few more sessions. What insights have you had lately about a goal you want to achieve? If you have been reading my blogs you know I am working towards setting up a new career and business. The office is moved and I am pleased how it came together; although, it’s hard to admit I am feeling stuck moving forward with my EFT training.
There are some culprits I think, the cost for training and building my business. I am going do an EFT appointment as a practice client today. I have been wondering what I am going to work on and now I know. I will let you know how it goes and what insights I learn from it. Have you tried EFT or other modalities and what insights did you learn from it? |
